Hope Was Here part 2

This Book is called Hope Was Here and it is by Joan Bauer. I left off at the part where G.T. is running for mayor. He ends up losing the election by 114 votes. The townspeople are convinced that the vote has been rigged, and finally the former mayor Eli Millstone confesses and steps down. G.T. becomes the mayor. He and Addie also get married and Hope loves having him as her stepfather. Everyone seems to think that he is doing fine, but several years later he suddenly gets cancer and passes away. By the end of the book, Hope and braverman are still dating but both plan to go to different colleges, so the book leaves their relationship wide open. Before Hope leaves for college on her last day of waitressing she writes "hope was here" on one of the booths in the diner. The book gives the reader the vibe that she will be coming back someday because she felt like home there.
