Oh Canada...
Today I read an article about Canada and it's difficult past. Starting in the late 19th century, and ending in the 1970's, children in Canada were taken away from their parents and sent to church run schools, supported for by the government. These children were to learn how to speak and act like white people did. The country is still overcoming this struggle and will for years to come. In a recent discovery, it was found that secret burials in mass graves were held, death by torture, and even fatal medical experiments took place in these so called"beneficial schools" Many of these children who are now adults are still grieving those darker times for Canada. There is now a commission called the truth and reconciliation act. This will try to get the buried remains of the children to be unburied, and forensically tested. There are many other things that the act would do and the people that went through those rough times are finally trying to come to terms with their dark history.
