Eat Pray Love- Post #2
I have started the book eat, pray, love. It follows one woman's (Elizabeth) quest to find herself and the better things shes's been missing in life by traveling to Italy, where she eats and learns Italian, India, where she learns to pray and be more spiritul, and Indonesia, where she learns to love. So far in the book, Elizabeth has realized the her "perfect" lifestyle, or so it seemed was not really what she wanted and she was not truly happy and never had been. She had just always thought that being rich, marrying a handsome and successful man and being very accomplished in her career was what she should want. But soon after that, she came to realize that it wasn't what she wanted. She started weeping on the bathroom floor because she just wanted someone to talk to and needed advice on the current situation. For some reason, she felt impelled to pray, even though she never had before. On page 15, she says " Hello God. I'm Liz. It's nice to meet you. Please tell me what to do." And a voice clearly and kindly answered her saying, " Go back to bed Liz." . This was the first, but definitely not the last time that Liz would speak to God and grow very close to him. Before she knew it, she was goin through a long divorce, and was very depressed until it was over. After all of this which took quite some time, Elizabeth decided that she would go to the three places she'd always wanted to go: Italy, India, and Indonesia to experience things that she never had but had always yearned to do. So, before she knew it, she was in Italy eating more than she ever had and loving it. So far, Italy was really teaching her how to be content, and go with the flow in life. Also, learning Italian had always been a language that Elizabeth really wanted to learn and so she wanted to learn it no where else but Italy. She enrolled in a class and made several friends. She experienced some amazing trips to different cities, food, friends, and life in Italy so far in the book.
