Unspeakable Odyssey

Recently in Ms. Jarett's class we were assigned to read an article called the unspeakable odyssey of the motionless boy, written by Joshua Foer. It was about a 16 year old boy who was in a car crash and was left paralyzed from head to toe. He had a stroke and what was called "locked in syndrome". The only part of his body that he could move was eyes. He could move them up or down to answer questions. He would move his eyes up for yes, and down for no. I thought this article was very interesting because the things that he chose to say showed a little of his personality. He would say that he wanted to watch a movie or listen to music sometimes. There was a specific time that his mom was watching a movie that he didnt like and he communicated through his eyes, " why do you watch such crappy shows?" That shows his personality and humorous side even though he couldn't speak. Even though the things that he chose to say weren't inspiring or anything it showed that he'd become content with himself and that he just wanted to be treated a little more normal.
